Frequently Asked Questions
What is concierge nursing?
Concierge nursing is personalized, private-pay nursing support designed to help older adults stay healthy, independent, and confident at home.
Unlike traditional home healthcare, concierge nursing focuses on proactive wellness, education, advocacy, care coordination, and helping identify potential concerns before they become bigger problems.
Simple Shifts Wellness gives you something many families wish they had—a trusted Registered Nurse who knows your health story and can help you navigate healthcare along the way.
Is this the same as home healthcare?
No.
Traditional home healthcare is typically ordered by a physician, billed through Medicare or insurance, and provided for a specific medical need for a limited period of time.
Simple Shifts Wellness is a private-pay concierge nursing service. This allows me to spend more time getting to know you, understand your goals, and provide personalized support without the limitations of insurance-based care.
My focus is on helping you stay well, recognize changes early, navigate healthcare, and remain safely and confidently at home.
Do you provide hands-on nursing care?
My services focus on nursing assessment, wellness monitoring, medication review, health education, healthcare advocacy, care coordination, and healthy aging support.
Simple Shifts Wellness does not replace traditional home health, private-duty caregiving, or hospice services.
If you or your loved one needs additional services such as skilled home healthcare, physical or occupational therapy, personal care assistance, or hospice care, I can help you understand your options and connect with appropriate local resources.
Do you accept Medicare or health insurance?
No. Simple Shifts Wellness is a private-pay nursing practice and does not bill Medicare or private health insurance.
Private-pay care allows me to provide highly personalized support based on your individual needs rather than the restrictions of insurance reimbursement.
Who is your ideal client?

What is the Healthy Aging Blueprint™?
The Healthy Aging Blueprint™ is a comprehensive in-home nursing assessment designed to look at the whole picture of your health—not simply your diagnoses.
During our visit, we’ll take the time to understand your medical history, current health concerns, daily routines, home environment, goals, and the things that matter most to you.
Your assessment may include:
- Comprehensive health history
- Medication and supplement review
- Vital signs and weight
- Nutrition and hydration
- Mobility, balance, and fall risk
- Home safety
- Chronic medical conditions
- Sleep and lifestyle habits
- Current healthcare providers
- Recent hospitalizations or changes in health
- Personal goals and concerns
Following your assessment, you’ll receive your Personalized Healthy Aging Plan™ with individualized nursing recommendations and practical “simple shifts” designed to help you stay healthier, safer, and more independent at home.
Think of it as your personal roadmap for aging well.
Do I have to commit to ongoing services?
No.
The Healthy Aging Blueprint™ can be completed as a standalone service, with no obligation to continue.
Some clients simply want a comprehensive assessment and personalized recommendations. Others appreciate having ongoing support from a Registered Nurse who already knows their health history and goals.
After your initial visit, we can discuss whether additional wellness visits, healthcare advocacy, appointment support, or an ongoing Healthy Aging Partnership would be helpful.
There is never any pressure to enroll in ongoing services.
Can you attend doctor appointments with me or my loved one?
Yes.
I can accompany clients to important medical appointments and help make sure nothing gets overlooked.
Appointment support may include:
- Preparing questions ahead of time
- Reviewing medications and medical history
- Attending the appointment
- Taking clinical notes
- Helping clarify recommendations
- Reviewing next steps afterward
- Communicating updates to family members with your permission
Medical appointments can be overwhelming. Having a Registered Nurse beside you can make it easier to feel prepared, informed, and confident about what comes next.
Can you communicate with my family?
Yes.
With your permission, I can provide updates to a designated family member, help coordinate communication, and make sure everyone understands important changes or recommendations.
You remain in control of who receives information about your health and care.
What if my loved one lives alone?
Many older adults want to remain in their own homes for as long as possible.
Regular wellness visits provide another set of experienced eyes to notice subtle changes in health, medications, mobility, nutrition, hydration, or the home environment.
For family members—especially those who live farther away—knowing that a Registered Nurse is checking in can provide tremendous peace of mind.
Can you help after a hospitalization or surgery?
Yes.
The transition home following a hospitalization or procedure can be one of the most vulnerable times for an older adult.
I can help review discharge instructions, reconcile medications, monitor recovery, identify concerns, prepare for follow-up appointments, and make sure you and your family understand the plan moving forward.
The goal is to make the transition home feel safer, more organized, and less overwhelming.
